Polyimide (PI) is a high-performance organic polymer material, its core component formed by the polymerization reaction of specific organic monomers.

From a chemical structure perspective, the general structural formula of polyimide can be represented as [-(R)-C(O)-NH-C(O)-]n, where R represents different organic groups. The selection and combination of these groups determine the specific properties of the polyimide.

The preparation process of polyimide involves complex chemical reactions, typically a two-step process: first, polyamic acid is generated through the condensation reaction of dianhydride and diamine; subsequently, polyamic acid is converted into polyimide through thermal imidization or chemical imidization. In this process, the selection of dianhydride and diamine is crucial, as they not only affect the molecular structure of polyimide but also directly determine the physical and chemical properties of the material.

Polyimide has attracted much attention due to its series of excellent properties. First, it possesses extremely high heat resistance, remaining stable over a wide temperature range of -200°C to 300°C, making it widely applicable in high-temperature environments. Second, polyimide exhibits excellent mechanical properties, including high strength, high toughness, and good fatigue resistance, making it an ideal choice for manufacturing high-performance structural materials. Furthermore, polyimide also possesses excellent electrical insulation properties, with a volume resistivity reaching 10¹⁷ Ω·cm and a dielectric loss as low as 0.004~0.007, giving it an irreplaceable position in the field of electronic communications.
